# Better data and faster websites: RUMvision x TAGGRS

Partnerships often start with a good conversation.

We met [Niels](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.linkedin.com/in/niels-olivier/&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1784623455312026&usg=AOvVaw0Zi_wVdRx8Z_Tw-Wxwc_3B), one of the founders of [TAGGRS](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://taggrs.io/&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1784623455312156&usg=AOvVaw3D2TAB5eGMTYhbQwXkPOrV), at an event in Amsterdam. While talking about tracking, privacy and website performance, we quickly realised that RUMvision and TAGGRS work on two sides of the same challenge.

TAGGRS helps companies move towards server-side tracking and a stronger first-party data setup. RUMvision shows how technical choices affect the site speed experience of real users.

That combination made a partnership a logical next step.

## Tracking should not slow down the website, never

Over time, websites collect more tags, pixels and third-party scripts. A new analytics tool, advertising platform, consent solution or experiment is added, while older scripts often remain in place.

Each script adds browser work. Together, they can increase network activity, JavaScript execution and main-thread usage. This can have a direct impact on responsiveness and metrics such as Interaction to Next Paint.

For RUMvision, tracking infrastructure is therefore part of website performance. A website can be technically well built and still feel slow because too much work happens in the browser.

Real User Monitoring makes that impact visible. It shows how actual visitors experience the website across devices, browsers, pages and locations.

> At TAGGRS we help companies build a reliable first party data foundation, so you can trust your data and maximize performance. One key aspect of performance is page speed and core web vitals. What makes Rumvision such a valuable partner is that instead of assuming the positive impact of server Side tracking, you can actually validate it with data

## Why first party data matters

Browser-based tracking is becoming less reliable. Browsers are restricting third-party cookies and cross-site tracking, while privacy rules require companies to have more control over how data is collected and shared. [A first-party setup provides a better foundation](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://taggrs.io/privacy-focused-first-party-data-marketing-guide/&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1784623455316879&usg=AOvVaw2wgZitxnhSW3aKSOoTwsxn).

Instead of sending data directly from the browser to multiple external platforms, data can first be sent to infrastructure controlled by the organisation. From there, it can be validated and forwarded to the required tools.

This gives teams more control over their data and reduces their dependence on the browser.

## The role of server-side tracking

Server-side tracking moves part of the tracking process away from the visitor’s browser.

This can reduce the amount of direct third-party requests and limit the amount of work required on the page. It also gives companies more control over which data is shared with external vendors.

The performance benefit depends on the implementation. Simply adding server-side tracking does not automatically make a website faster. The real value comes from using the migration to review the entire tracking setup.

Which scripts still need to run in the browser? Which tags are still used? Which requests can be removed, combined or moved? Every user that starts with RUMvision can at least remove 2 scripts that they didn’t know about...

These decisions can lead to lighter pages, a more reliable data flow and less browser-side processing.

## Early and promising web performance results

Several RUMvision customers are already using TAGGRS. In the first implementations, we have seen improvements in both INP and TTFB.

The exact impact differs per website and setup, but these results show why tracking and performance should be evaluated together.

RUMvision makes it possible to compare performance before and after changes to the tracking setup. Instead of assuming that a new implementation is faster, teams can validate the impact with data from real visitors.

## A shared goal for a better web

The partnership between RUMvision and TAGGRS brings server-side tracking and Real User Monitoring closer together.

TAGGRS helps companies build a more controlled and future-proof data setup. RUMvision helps them understand what that setup means for website performance and user experience. The shared goal is simple: better data should not come at the cost of a slower website.

By combining first-party tracking with real-user performance data, teams can make better decisions for both their marketing data and their visitors.
