Connections for AI & MCP
The RUMvision MCP can be used with different types of MCP-compatible clients. This includes AI assistants, IDEs, developer tools and other applications that support remote MCP servers.
External clients
Once MCP access has been enabled for your organisation in RUMvision, you can connect an external client to the RUMvision MCP endpoint. The exact setup depends on the client you want to use. Some tools only require an MCP URL, while others may also require authentication, workspace settings or a local configuration file.
Typical clients include:
- AI assistants, such as ChatGPT or Claude;
- IDEs and developer tools, such as Cursor or VS Code-based tools;
- internal AI workflows that support MCP;
- other third-party MCP clients.
Before setting up a connection, make sure MCP access is enabled in RUMvision for your organisation and user role.
The following articles explain how to connect RUMvision MCP to specific tools. Each guide focuses on the exact setup steps for that client, including where to enter the MCP endpoint, how to configure authentication where needed, and how to test whether the connection works.

Connecting MCP
To find the endpoint of the RUMvision MCP, navigate to the MCP section in your profile settings. To reach that section, click the profile button at the bottom left. A dropdown panel will appear, where you should click the "MCP" link in section "Profile".
Connector details
When connecting, your AI agent or MCP client will ask for details. Use the following information:

Copy endpoint or command
You will be presented an MCP section that contains a description and endpoint. Use the copy button to copy the full endpoint URL or command, and use that in your AI agent or MCP client while setting up a connection.
Authentication and registration method
OAuth should be used for authentication. When given the option to specify a registration method, select Dynamic Client Registration (DCR). The required OAuth endpoints should then be prefilled automatically in most MCP clients.

Revoking connections
Existing connections with be listed in its own section. Within that section, you can revoking existing connections that you no longer use.
When revoking access, you will first be prompted for your RUMvision password.
Troubleshooting
ChatGPT cannot scan the tools
Check whether:
- you pasted the endpoint including https protocol instead of http;
- the correct endpoint directory path is correct;
- the server is reachable from outside your network;
- authentication is configured correctly.
The app is connected, but no data is returned
Check whether:
- your user account has access to the requested RUMvision domain;
- the domain has RUM data;
- the requested metric exists for that domain;
- the selected period contains enough samples;
- authentication was completed successfully.
ChatGPT gives incomplete answers
Ask it to be more specific.
For example:
Use the RUMvision MCP data only. Show the period, filters, dimensions and sample counts you used.
Or:
Before giving a conclusion, first retrieve the diagnosis guide for LCP and then query the required dimensions.
This helps ChatGPT follow a more structured diagnostic workflow.
