Enable MCP access in RUMvision
MCP access can be configured from the organisation settings in RUMvision. To reach that page, click the profile button at the bottom left. A dropdown panel will appear, where should click the "Settings" link in section "Organisation":
To then enable or restrict MCP access for an organisation:
- Find the setting called Who can query this organisation’s domains via MCP.
- Open the dropdown.
- Choose who should be allowed to query this organisation’s domains through MCP.
- Save your changes.
As illustrated in the screenshot, the available options are:

| Nobody | No users can query this organisation’s domains via MCP. |
| Everyone | All users with access to the organisation can query its domains via MCP. |
| Selected users | Only users with selected roles can query the organisation’s domains via MCP. |
Allowing access for selected roles
If you choose Selected users, you can define which roles are allowed to use MCP for this organisation as illustrated in the following screenshot:
Select one or more roles from the list, such as:
- Admin
- Developer
- Manager
- User
- User (all domains)
- Invoice viewer
- Financial manager
After selecting the roles, click Save.
Only users with one of the selected roles will be able to query this organisation’s domains through MCP.
Recommended setup
For most production environments, we recommend starting with a limited group of trusted roles, such as Admin and Developer. This allows technical users to test and validate MCP usage before access is expanded to a wider group.
A typical setup could be:

| Broad usage | Add managers and users, but only if MCP access is intended for all organisation users |
If you are not ready to allow MCP access yet, choose Nobody. You can enable access later when your organisation is ready to use MCP clients.
Troubleshooting
Having access to a domain in your RUMvision account does not automatically mean you can access that domain through MCP.
Your RUMvision profile may allow you to manually view a domain’s data in the RUMvision dashboards, while MCP access for that domain is still disabled by the organisation that owns it.
When querying data through your AI agent or MCP client, you may see a message like this:

mcp_access_enabledis false, I can see that the domain exists in RUMvision, but I cannot fetch detailed metrics, health checks, issues, template rules, or Core Web Vitals diagnostics through MCP for this organisation.
This means the domain exists in RUMvision and your profile can see it, but the owning organisation has not granted MCP access for that domain.
To resolve this, ask an administrator of the organisation that owns the domain to enable MCP access for their organisation. For more context, you can refer them to this guide.
